Docs Manager

Title: Group Manager, Documentation and CD release engineering

Responsibilities:
This person manages a team of highly-experienced documentation and release engineering professionals to produce all NETGEAR product documentation. This includes in-box single-sheet of paper quick installation guides as well as more detailed on-line reference manuals for each product NETGEAR ships. The team includes employees and consultants, who augment our NETGEAR team to accommodate surges or provide specialized expertise. The manager ensures that the team provides all required deliverables on schedule, so that no product ever misses a launch due to documentation. As our documentation and CD needs evolve, the manager identifies better methodologies and documents to provide critical information to our customers in a friendly, user-focused format. Additionally, the manager will contribute to the success of the organization by serving in an individual contributor role for some documents, especially those where we are piloting a new technique or tool.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Collaborate effectively across all business units and functional teams
• Demonstrated ability to manage and work with geographically-dispersed team, including direct reports based in Asia
• Experienced people manager with demonstrated success setting employee goals, hiring, training and developing a strong, collaborative team
• Experienced manager of consultants, capable of setting goals, evaluating work product quality, and ensuring consultant-produced documentation is equal to employee-produced documentation
• Strong process skills, working with cross-functional partners to identify and document best-practices
• Creative problem-solver, who embraces and builds on new ideas to create a better user experience for our customers
• Strong project management capabilities, able to track key documentation deliverables and ensure all are delivered on schedule with high quality
• Excellent skills with FrameMaker, Acrobat, Illustrator, and Photoshop tools.
• Strong oral and written communication skills, and demonstrated patience and flexibility when communicating with non-native English speaking members of our design team
