NETGEAR Tops the Competition for Second Year Straight in PC World Reliability and Service Survey

PC World’s Reliability and Service Survey Polled Over 42,000 Subscribers For Report That Again Rated NETGEAR Best Among the Industry’s Top Wireless Gateway Manufacturers

SANTA CLARA, Calif. – December 9, 2004 – NETGEAR, Inc., (Nasdaq: NTGR) a worldwide provider of technologically advanced, branded networking products, today announced that for the second year in a row the readers of PC World have given it the top ratings for reliability and service among the industry’s major wireless gateway manufacturers. PC World’s Reliability and Service Survey, which is published in the December 2004 edition of PC World, surveyed readers on the reliability and service of manufacturers including NETGEAR, D-Link, Linksys, Microsoft, SMC, 2Wire and Belkin.

NETGEAR received category-leading scores in both “Satisfaction with Reliability,” which awarded NETGEAR the highest rating amongst respondents for satisfaction with the device’s reliability, and “Severe Problems,” which reported NETGEAR has the fewest owners who said they had a problem serious enough to cause them to contact technical support.

“NETGEAR’s design and engineering emphases have always been focused on and driven by the need to deliver the best end-user experience in the industry across all of our product lines. We are particularly excited about the results of this survey because it is a ranking that was given to us by the end users of our products,” explained Patrick Lo, CEO and Chairman of NETGEAR. “Our customers have come to expect a best-in-class end-user experience that goes well beyond the initial setup of the device. Not only are our products attractive and easy-to-use, but also they are designed to function reliably over the long-term. The PC World survey is proof to us that our efforts are succeeding across the board.”
