NETGEAR Wireless-N Networking Products First in Industry to Ship with Intel "Connect with Centrino" Certification

Successful Completion of Rigorous Compatibility and Interoperability Testing Between NETGEAR RangeMax NEXT Wireless-N Routers and Intel® Next-Gen Wireless-N Results in Award of the Certification, the First Among All Router and Access Point Vendors

SANTA CLARA, Calif. – January 23, 2007 – NETGEAR, Inc. (Nasdaq: NTGR), a worldwide provider of technologically advanced, branded networking products, today announced that its RangeMax NEXT Wireless-N Routers are the first wireless networking products in the industry to ship with the “Connect with Centrino” certification by Intel.  NETGEAR’s RangeMax Wireless-N Routers (WNR834B and WNR854T) have successfully passed the certification process ensuring compatibility and interoperability with Intel® Next-Gen Wireless-N, which will be shipping in Intel® Centrino® Duo mobile technology based notebooks by the end of January 2007.

NETGEAR’s RangeMax NEXT Wireless-N Routers, which have been “tested and verified to work together” with Intel® Next-Gen Wireless N, were subjected to extensive real-world tests by Intel over the course of several months in typical home and enterprise environments.  During the certification process, the RangeMax NEXT Wireless-N Routers were not only tested for compatibility with Intel®  Next-Gen Wireless-N, but were evaluated for performance, extended range, co-existence with other 802.11b/g clients and access points, and the ability to eliminate Wi-Fi dead spots.

“Intel established the ‘Connect with Centrino’ program to ensure that users of Centrino Mobile Technology receive superior rate, range, and robustness in their wireless home network,” stated Dave Hofer, director, wireless networking, mobile products group at Intel Corporation. “NETGEAR, having completed our rigorous certification program, has clearly demonstrated its commitment to promoting and advancing the full capability of the 802.11n draft standard.”

“The launch of the Intel® Next-Gen Wireless-N by Intel is further validation of the state of the draft 802.11n specification,” explained Vivek Pathela, NETGEAR Vice President of Product Marketing. “We are proud to be the first networking vendor to achieve the new ‘Connect with Centrino’ certification as it delivers a strong, irrefutable message to our customers in regards to the performance, interoperability and compatibility of our RangeMax NEXT Wireless-N product family.  The rigorous certification process that our products were subjected to are of particular significance to our customers as it demonstrates and validates the extensive engineering efforts that NETGEAR has dedicated to bringing to market draft 11n-compliant products that deliver today on the 802.11n promises of high speed, extended range, reliability and interoperability.  We are proud to work with Intel to provide the Wireless-N infrastructure for making the convergence of entertainment, communication and information in connected homes a reality.”
