Innovative Networking Company Seeking Same (12/14/2006)

Of all the interesting feedback on our industry first contest to pick a Blogger in Residence for CES, the most frequently asked question is: “So just what are you looking for in a Blogger in Residence for CES?” Or in other words: “How should I spin my application to increase my chances of being The One?”

In one word it is all about: reputation.

We are looking for someone who has a good reputation, and will becoming our Blogger in Residence help them enhance their reputation and NETGEAR’s. As we’ve commented on other blogs, this contest isn’t all about NETGEAR . . . we understand that this is a two way street and everyone’s good reputation is involved, not just their own. The winner needs to understand that as well.

Aside from that, the X factors for choosing a winner are creativity, insight, unique perspective, and ideally an understanding of the space that NETGEAR and CES occupies and how that is meaningful to readers and consumers – actually, its all the things that make a blog worth reading in the first place.

We realize this is all a bit subjective, but let’s face it, this hasn’t been done before and we didn’t want a bunch of metrics for metrics sake to attempt to quantify any decision. Besides of any absolute factors that can be used to answer the question what would you look at? Would you look at number of posts per day? Length of posts? We didn’t feel it made sense to have some specific metric, but that ‘we’d know it when we see it’”
