Meet the New NETGEAR Guest Blogger: Jeremy Toeman (2/8/2007)
Hi there, I'm NETGEAR's newest Guest Blogger, and I thought I'd take a moment to introduce myself. I've worked in the "digital convergence" industry for almost 10 years now, originally cofounding a company called Mediabolic, and then most recently worked at Sling Media, makers of the Slingbox. While at Sling Media, I initiated the company's online user community, and I created my own personal blog, which I call LIVEdigitally, where I write about consumer technology. Now, I'm working on a variety of different projects for several convergence, consumer electronics, and digital media companies, and I've been asked by NETGEAR to be their newest "blogger-in-residence."
The company started down this path for CES, where they welcomed Dave Zatz, of ZatzNotFunny.com, to blog about the products and experiences he saw at the Las Vegas show. After that, the company's decided to work with other technology bloggers, and selected me to pick up from where Dave left off. Big shoes to fill, but I'm a little taller than him, so I think I can do the job (just kidding Dave!).
While Dave had pretty wide access at the Consumer Electronics Show, the folks at NETGEAR are opening up their offices to me here in the Bay Area. Over the next few months, I'll have the opportunity to talk to their management team, senior engineers, and product planners, and hopefully come back with some good tales and good insight into the future of the "connected home."
In addition, I'll probably whip up a few of my own thoughts and opinions as to the networking industry and how the landscape is changing for big companies and small businesses alike. I'll also focus on some digital lifestyle issues and topics, and try to predict (or guess at least) a little of the future.
I'm also interested in hearing your feedback, on the blog, and about what you'd like to see happen here. If you have ideas of things you'd like me to go find out about within NETGEAR, hit me with your questions, I'll try to get all the answers I can muster up!
Thanks for reading, and I hope you enjoy!
