For five years, NETGEAR has worked alongside NDI to revolutionize the AV networking space to uphold an industry standard and level of quality that is required with any setup.

NDI enables seamless communication between systems and devices, allowing them to encode, transmit, and receive high-quality, low-latency video and audio over IP in real time. By eliminating the need for proprietary network equipment, costly point-to-point connections, and complex infrastructure upgrades, NDI has quickly become the most widely adopted IP protocol among media organizations.

The Impact of the NDI Standard

Prior to the NDI standard, IP-based audio and video workflows required expensive equipment and complex configuration settings at the production end, limiting high-quality content creation to professional studios with specialized technical staff.

Today, NDI certification guarantees true interoperability within NDI’s ecosystem of devices, applications, and workflows. Only devices that undergo rigorous testing are awarded this certification, ensuring top-notch performance in areas such as interoperability, latency, user experience, and configuration. From cameras and converters to switchers and routers, businesses purchasing NDI-certified devices can expect seamless integration and superior performance.

A Partnership Built on Innovation

NETGEAR has proudly partnered with NDI for five years and counting, helping to facilitate and design NDI networks with NETGEAR’s AV solutions. Our groundbreaking NETGEAR AV OS™, built into every AV switch, and the free NETGEAR Engage™ controller include certified profiles for NDI, significantly reducing the cost and complexity of network configuration. This allows content creators to focus on their projects rather than worrying about network setup.

“A breakthrough for NDI, five years ago, was its use for the campaign of Finland’s former Prime Minister Sanna Marin. The campaign’s social-media-savvy PR team leveraged easy-to-setup Birddog NDI cameras to quickly generate high-quality video content and create a mobile TV studio,” said Richard Jonker, NETGEAR’s VP of Marketing & Business

NDI Expands Offerings

NDI recently expanded its NDI Certified Program to include software and infrastructure hardware products, and we were eager to be involved. NETGEAR is among the earliest adopters of this program, with all switches from our popular M4250, M4300, M4350, M4500 series being fully certified for NDI.

This certification program ensures that NDI-enabled products meet the technical guidelines for seamless interoperability within NDI workflows. It also provides official endorsement, verifying that partners’ products perform as advertised. By participating in this initiative, we help users access a broader range of reliable, high-performance options for their workflows.

“Given NETGEAR’s commitment to user experience, we expected them to be among the first to achieve certification for this new offering. Their dedication not only to meeting but exceeding industry standards ensures that businesses and creators can fully leverage the power of AV-over-IP solutions,” said Don Shaver, Business Development Director of NDI.

Looking Ahead

Our continued commitment to ensuring support for NDI and making switch configuration easier drives our partnership. We work to engineer products that match industry standards and innovation stride for stride, with NDI’s Certified Program being just one testament to their quality.
