SAN JOSE, Calif. – February 15, 2011 — NETGEAR®, Inc. (NASDAQGM: NTGR),a global networking company that delivers innovative products to consumers, businesses and service providers, today announced that the N300 Wireless ADSL2+ Modem Router - Mobile Broadband Edition (DGN2200M) is now available online and at major retailers worldwide. The CES award-winning modem router (DGN2200M) with mobile broadband failover combines 802.11n wireless and a built-in ADSL2+ modem with optional support for High speed 3G+ cellular broadband connectivity, making it a unique solution that is ideal for small and medium businesses that need the reliability of an always-on Internet connection.
The N300 Wireless ADSL2+ Modem Router – Mobile Broadband Edition provides customers with an automatic DSL-to-3G+ cellular failover in case of a DSL outage. This feature is critical for businesses that need reliable Internet connectivity with zero downtime. In the event of disruption to DSL broadband services, the router can temporarily divert Internet traffic to the cellular broadband network via an external 3G+ modem that can be plugged into its USB port. When DSL broadband service is restored, all traffic is switched back to the DSL connection.
"NETGEAR is always working to provide a breadth of innovative and feature-rich networking choices to support customers' connected lifestyles and business needs," said Som Pal Choudhury, NETGEAR director of product marketing. "Zero downtime and an always-on reliable internet connection is a must for any business today. Telephone services in most businesses today are routed through the broadband network via Voice over IP (VoIP) and newer generation credit card machines rely on broadband for their connectivity. The comprehensive feature set that we have built into this product combined with its ease of use and failover protection makes it the ideal choice for use in small and medium businesses."
In addition to failover protection, the router provides a host of features for secured and productive small business operation including:
- Secure Connection — Stateful Packet Inspection (SPI), Virtual Private Network (VPN) Pass through, and Denial of Service (DoS) protection
- Broadband usage meter — Monitors Internet traffic and sends customized reports to help keep costs under control
- Guest network access — Provides separate security and access restrictions for guests using the network
- OpenDNS powered security and filtering — Makes your network safer, more reliable and productive
